Cesc Fabregas was sent off in the first half of Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to West Brom and it was a very unusual dismissal.
Referee Mike Jones was resolving a confrontation between several West Brom defenders and Diego Costa late in the first half when Cesc Fabregas took control of the ball and standing on the other side of the 16-yard-box, kicked it into the crowd of players.
The ball hit West Brom's Chris Brunt on the side of the head, resulting in a tempered reaction from fellow-captain Darren Fletcher. Referee Mike Jones was then quick to award the Spaniard a controversial straight red card.
Chelsea went on to lose 3-0, their heaviest league defeat since 2006. Fabregas will now also serve a one-match suspension as a result of being sent-off.

Chelsea manager José Mourinho gave his view on the red card awarded to Cesc Fàbregas.
Mourinho called the ruling 'bizarre' and said Darren Fletcher was far more aggressive than Fàbregas during the incident.
Jose questions the red card for Fabregas, asking where was the danger in the incident. He calls the sending off 'bizarre'. #CFC— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) May 18, 2015
